Yes, I am the worst. It's been a long time since I've been on this thing. Excuse me for the delay. Life called, and I was forced to tend to it.
Today is my birthday! And as always it's a little bittersweet. I feel like I'd really like to just hang out, go out, enjoy myself, but I've had too much fun this weekend as-is, and I'm plain tuckered out (not to mention drowning in all the things I have to do). Jenny Frey, Justin, Vicki, David, Erick, and I went to breakfast this morning at 8:30, which was so incredibly early in light of last night's "prom" festivities. It was very nice, though, and definitely worth the early wake-up call. We went to M. Henry, which is one of the best breakfast places I've ever been to. Thereafter, I napped, putzed, watched Project Runway, and napped. It's been fantastic! Erick and I had dinner reservations for tonight, but I'm just too wiped, so I'm taking a rain check.
Last night's Barrister's Ball (aka law school prom) was fairly fun, but Erick nailed it when he summed up the night as a more expensive and noisy variation of a normal night hanging out with our friends. In the Ball's defense, it was nice to see some people who I don't normally see when I'm not on campus. But we really blew it by not taking advantage of the dancing, or the free planetarium show that they put on for us. Oh well...there's always next year, I suppose? Yeah right...who am I kidding, I'm not going to go again! I'd rather spend the money on a nice dinner out. I did have an excuse to dress up. I wore a strapless black dress that was sheer from the knees down, with a beaded cape to cover my shoulders. It was very classy and nice looking. And I've never had the opportunity to wear it thus far, so there's one plus!
Friday night Nathan threw me and my friend Lindsay a joint bday party. That was really, really fun. 20 of our closest friends here came out, and we ate, drank, and played Rock Band. My friend and ex-college roommate Kelly was in Chicago too, so she was able to come to the party, which made it extra special for me.
Needless to say this weekend is ending on a quiet note. I would love nothing more than to go back to sleep right now. I'm so tired and overburdened. I need to hunker down this week and really get some serious work done!

The biggest news of recent is that I got a job--in NYC! I flew out there early February to interview, and found out within the week that I had an offer. This is very, very exciting news in part because needing a job was an enormous burden that I was dying to alleviate, but also because so few people work in firms their first summer--let alone top 10 firms in NYC! I was really looking forward to being in Chicago this summer, but if I have to "settle" for a different city, I can't think of a better place to settle than NYC. It will be great experience and a lot of fun. A few of my law school friends are also working in NYC, and of course some of my best friends are there as well: Mirth, Des, Kelsey from my elementary school days, and Jieun.
Also can't stop listening to this song. Reminds me of really wonderful times.
Thanks to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. xoxox much love to all of you.
